The Lycoming College Clean Water Institute (CWI) will host Tim Palmer, award-winning author, photographer, and speaker, for a talk entitled “Seek Higher Ground: The Natural Solution To Our Urgent Flooding Crisis,” which is based on his book of the same title. The event is slated for Friday, May 17, at 2 p.m. in the Barclay Room/Heim G11, and is free and open to the public.

Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter has been invited to address the Class of 2024 students and their loved ones at Lycoming College’s 176th Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 11. Slaughter will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws from Lycoming during the ceremony.

Lycoming College rallied its community to “Give like a Warrior!” during its sixth annual Days of Giving held April 9-10, 2024. The record-breaking 48-hour fundraising event resulted in 1,573 donors and $623,099 in gifts to support the people and programs that make its campus so distinctive.

Lycoming College sorority Beta Phi Gamma is once again sponsoring Relay for Life, on Friday, April 19, from 4-8 p.m., in the Keiper Recreation Center on the Lycoming campus. This year’s event will be Taylor Swift-themed and offer a fun Friday evening for students and all Williamsport community members and their families, while raising funds to take action against cancer through advocacy, research, and patient support. Participants can register for the event as a team, or join a team upon arrival at the event. Walk-in registrations are also welcome.

Hannah Saar ’25, actuarial science and mathematics double major with a minor in economics, from Jersey Shore, Pa., overcame a major career obstacle during her junior year at Lycoming College by passing actuarial exam P, administered by the Society of Actuaries. The achievement — rarely attained on a student’s first attempt as the exam has only a 42.5 percent pass rate — will make her a very competitive candidate for employment.
